Product Designer (hardware)

We’re looking for a talented Product Designer (hardware) to join our innovative team and help turn our groundbreaking ideas into working prototypes and amazing products!

As our (hardware) Product Designer, you’ll be at the forefront of creating technology and products that make a real difference in people’s lives. Next to that, you will be responsible for lab management, ensuring an optimal and safe workplace for our scientists and engineers. You’ll work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary team where your creativity and technical skills will make a real difference.

Here is what you will mainly be up to as Product Designer (hardware) in our team:

You work with our senior product designer, product manager, and electronics engineer to develop demo’s, proof-of-technology, and proof-of-concept devices based on our cutting edge SunLED technology, from sketch on paper to execution.
When prototypes are advancing towards minimum viable products or mass-production, you contribute to the DFM process, alignment with (production) partners, and sourcing information on materials and components.
In a joint development process with partners, you guide the partner’s engineers to make sure that the final product meets the requirements.
As lab manager, you take the lead in organizing an effective workspace for our engineers and scientists. You make sure the right equipment is present and calibrated, and you own the health & safety procedures.
As the team is small, collaboration and helping each other is key to achieve our goals on various projects and topics. We share ideas and results, spark creativity, and drill down on fundamental problems.
Your work will lead to new intellectual property and manufacturing breakthroughs. You will contribute to our intellectual property through technical inventions and patents.

Is it you we’re looking for?

We need a product designer who can own the (prototype) development process and enthusiastically take on lab management responsibilities.

You:

Have experience as a Product designer/Design engineer in the consumer electronics or automotive industry.
Are experienced with or you are eager to learn about light, optics, and optical designs.
Like to think about user interaction, experience with interaction design would be even better.
Bring a curious and flexible mindset to our interdisciplinary, multicultural team working on groundbreaking innovations.
Fluent in English verbal and written
